Discussion: Through the advent of unconventional drilling, challenging economics and constant innovation, the oil and gas industry is going through a profound transformation.  The role of technical advancement is bold: work to develop and apply technology to better produce energy that powers the world, protects the planet, and improves lives. The goal is to deliver transformative solutions to industry’s toughest challenges. Where are the opportunities for newly applied technology? How does the digital revolution and big data/analytics advance the transformation?  What are the cool things that are happening?  The focus is on developing and accelerating technologies and processes that transform our energy system – making it better, smarter, faster, cleaner, safer, cheaper, and more efficient. This effort is aligned to support the needs and growth objectives of the oil & gas business, promising to make the industry not only more effective, but also more efficient and productive.
